Killing Joke collects ‘four hours of dub annihilation’ on new ‘Killing Joke in Dub’ set

Killing Joke

Post-punk legends Killing Joke have launched a Pledge Music crowdsourcing campaign to fund the band’s long-in-the-works compilation Killing Joke In Dub, a triple album of remixes that, in its deluxe incarnation, will come with a bonus 40-minute DJ mix, collecting, in the words of bassist and compiler Martin “Youth” Glover, “over four hours of dub annihilation.”

In introducing the project, Youth writes:

“I first discovered Dub in 1976, along with many other kinds of music it became the soundtrack to my late teenage years and consistent through the rest of my life. We were surrounded by Dub in Ladbroke Grove in the late 1970’s…. This is the first time a collection of Killing Joke’s Dub mixes has been released as an album, spread over 3CD’s (as well as a 40 minute bonus DJ Mix) over four hours of Dub annihilation…it has been an epic voyage. Compiling the best of the legacy and distilling all new Dub plates into a definitive collection was never going to be easy. This album has taken over a year to lovingly put together and of all of the many productions and mixes I have been fortunate enough to have been involved with, this one, I’m sure, will be one of those that tells the story best and the one that makes me feel extremely proud to be a part of the phenomena that is Killing Joke.”

Fans can pre-order Killing Joke in Dub by contributing to the Pledge Music drive; the collection is being released in digital, CD and vinyl formats in a variety of different bundles (including a 3LP colored-vinyl set with the aforementioned DJ mix CD thrown in as a bonus), priced all the way up to £5,000 — for which you’ll get the album plus a customized bass guitar signed by Youth.

  1. I’d love to do this but the last Pledge Music project (Killing Joke’s Down by the River) was such a cluster f*** that I’ll never do it again. pledge Music didn’t follow through and KJ’s notoriously bad management meant it went a year instead of 2-3 months. I got what I paid for eventually but damn, what a disaster. It’s a shame as this is something I’d love to have

I pledged for some expensive items from another band on Pledgemusic and this december will be a YEAR- and i still haven’t received anything. Always an excuse from the band. I feel your pain of wanting to support a band you love and them turning the tables on you.
