The Sisters of Mercy

The U.K.’s hard-rock/metal-themed Sonisphere festival won’t be the only place to see The Sisters of Mercy this year: Andrew Eldritch this week announced a 12-date European tour in May ahead of that festival, a run of dates that will bring the goth-rock giants to Germany, Austria, Poland, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg and The Netherlands.

The concerts, announced on the band’s website, will be the Sisters’ first performances since wrapping up 30th anniversary dates in the summer of 2012. Eldtritch, Doktor Avalanche and whomever else constitute The Sisters of Mercy these days were fairly active in 2011 and 2012, playing a number of anniversary dates across Europe, Japan, Australia, South America and Mexico.

  1. The official scraping the bottom of the barrel tour I see. No offense to those countries, but sheesh, get an album out already.

  2. looks like I will be taking an overseas trip. Awesome!!!

  3. Batshiz Crazay

From the responses on FB about this, 99.9% of all people who saw them in the last 10 years said this was one if not the worst shows they’ve ever seen. It’s ironic they briefly named themselves, “Screw Shareholder Value”

  4. I don’t understand why they didn’t come up with a new album after Vision Thing. They were at the height of their success. Is Andrew a meth addict of something? I think it’s weird that they are still touring there is no new material.
