Exactly one week ago, a pair of multiplatinum smash albums from Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden — ’90s alternative standard bearers The Downward Spiral and Superunknown, respectively — celebrated their 20th anniversary. Tonight, those two acts announced a 23-date co-headlining tour of North American arenas and amphitheaters.
Presales for the tour, which will feature Death Grips as opening act, begin at noon local time on Monday, with the general onsale following next Friday. See full dates below.

A very unexpected but AWESOME pair up for a tour package! Let’s hope this Death Grips band is able to roll with the big dogs.
I would applaud, but I was at the show in 1994 in Barrie (Ontario, Canada), and having both bands co-headline was a bad idea then and probably a bad idea now.
And here’s why… NIN had the largest video/light show on the continent, but went on before Soundgarden. Soundgarden came on to a dull stage with dull sound (alright, blame the sound guy). It was an anti-climactic disaster.
Of course, that was two tours crossing paths, and one hopes there would be better planning for a co-headlining tour.
Hell of a show, though… You Am I, Reverend Horton Heat, Pop Will Eat Itself, Marilyn Manson, Soundgarden, and Nine Inch Nails… and traffic from hell all the way home… what should have been a twenty minute section of road took two and a half hours… but I digress.
A version of the Summerland Tour for the parents who embarrass their kids at Warped then? Fair enough.
