Kate Bush expands London residency to 22 concerts following ‘massive’ ticket demand

Kate Bush

Kate Bush’s shocking return to the stage later this year will be even bigger than initially announced, with the singer — acknowledging “massive” ticket demand — yesterday adding seven more dates to her run of London shows that begin in late summer, meaning Bush’s first live dates in 35 years will now span a 22-performance run from Aug. 26 through Oct. 1.

The NME reports the new shows, in late September and early October (see full dates below), were added after a pre-sale allotment of tickets sold out in 30 minutes.

The general on-sale for all 22 shows is set for 9:30 a.m. London time Friday. Tickets are available through eventim.co.uk, www.gigsandtours.com and www.ticketmaster.co.uk.

Bush famously stopped touring after a sole outing in 1979, a decision some believe was due to everything from a fear of flying to an overly controlling nature to the death of her lighting director during that 1979 outing. Since then, she has performed sporadically at a handful of charity events, and has turned up for duets at concerts with Peter Gabriel and David Gilmour.

Well..there just went my chance and her other U.S. fans chance to see her! SQUASHED!!

  3. Glory2Babalon

I’m a huge fan of Kate’s work, but this is a little on the overkill side IMO.

  4. How is it “overkill”? If the demand for tickets is there, where’s the problem? It means less people will miss out on seeing her perform. Nobody holds a gun to anyone’s head to make them buy a ticket.

  5. Modern Everyman

It is kind of surprising that she’s playing 22 shows in 6 weeks after not playing a show in nearly 35 years. After that kind of layoff, is she ready for that quantity of shows?

  6. since I can’t hope for US shows… PLEASE film it for a blu ray release!

  7. Hey Modern Everyman! She’s playing 22 shows in 5 weeks with 15 days of breaks; here and there.. She’s happy, healthy, finally recognized and 55 years old. As a woman, in my 50’s, I can vouch for a renewed vigor and energy..a confidence that never existed in my 20’s. You should be proud of her – I am!!

Meant no disrespect to women or women in their 50s…just a heckuva lot of shows! It’s concern, not a personal criticism of her.

  8. I got 5th row.

Flying from Australia to see this show, can barely afford it but this will be magical!

I don’t think her fear of flying/travelling is going to please anyone who thinks she will do similar shows overseas.

  9. Good news indeed! Eventually the money begins to get low, probably a big reason why she’s released so much product recently and decided to do this tour. It’s perfect, make a ton of money and be home in your own bed every night. Kate rules!

  10. Also flying from Australia specifically for this, and rearranging three children and a husband to do so. Literally, once in a lifetime.
