Coachella 2014 webcast: Pixies, Bryan Ferry, Pet Shop Boys, The Cult — but no Replacements

Coachella 2014

The schedule for the webcast of the first weekend of the Coachella festival — running this Friday through Saturday — features a number of great acts, including Bryan Ferry, Pet Shop Boys, The Afghan Whigs, The Cult, Fishbone, the just-added Pixies and more. But conspicuously absent? The Replacements, who are playing Friday night.

The festival has been known to add acts to the webcast schedule at the last minute as agreements are hashed out with the artists, so here’s hoping for a last-minute addition of the ‘Mats.

Below you can see the full webcast, which will be streamed over three channels on YouTube (highlights of the festival’s second weekend will be shown on the AXS cable network).

  1. Pretty bad lineup for 80s acts.. really just Pet Shop Boys, The Cult, and Brian Ferry

  2. I swear some ex-girlfriend of mine is running things, last year it was the Stone Roses that wasn’t streamed and this year its the Replacements.

  3. Been to Coachella 7 times …. It’s a very profitable venture … That being said , I also want to see more “established” bands. an 80’s -90’s band at the end of every night. Quit pocketing all the money and bring in better bands ! 😎

  4. [music intensifies]

  5. No ‘mats stream no sale. :<

  6. Of course no Replacements! It makes sense. ‘Mats fans will likely understand this:
If you aren’t there, don’t worry about it. It’s not our business and we don’t need to know about it. Listen to “Seen Your Video”. Because we don’t want to know. Why? Because its not our place, our time, our experience.
That’s not to say that history isn’t important- no no, far from it. But it’s this sort of prerogative that Green Day has also adopted where they want to limit cameras or live footage because they want fans to experience the magic on their own terms.

  7. The Stone Roses were streamed last year.

Last minute addition and only 20-25 minutes – should still be up on youtube.

  8. Oh, man, I’m bummed. Ian Astbury’s vocals for The Cult are a barely a shadow of his original range. This is a bucket list band I never saw and sadly might not need to now. Is this a fluke?

  9. The Replacements’ show should have been streamed. Other than that, no complaints.

  10. You’d HAVE to pay me to sit through most of those bands. Except MGMT :)
    Love them.
