Contest: Win ticket to see Black Francis at Brooklyn book launch for ‘The Good Inn’

Black Francis' 'The Good Inn'

On Friday, Pixies frontman Black Francis will help launch the new novel he’s co-authored — “The Good Inn,”  which is billed as “blurring the lines between fact and fiction, film and prose, reality and surreality” — at an event at The Powerhouse Arena in Brooklyn.

And we’ve got three tickets to the event to award to lucky Slicing Up Eyeballs readers.

Published last week, the 256-page hardback, put out by HarperCollins’ It Books, is co-authored by Josh Frank, who compiled “Fool the World: The Oral History of a Band Called Pixies,”  and features illustrations by Steven Appelby.

TO ENTER: In the comments section below, please name your favorite Black Francis lyric and give a few words as to why you love it. If you’re using the Slicing Up Eyeballs app, please email your entry to info@slicingupeyeballs.com with the subject line “I’ve kissed mermaids, rode the El Nino.”

RULES: We’ll take entries until 5 p.m. EDT Wednesday, April 23. After that point, we’ll select three winners at random and contact them via their provided e-mail addresses. One entry per person.

  1. “I soon forgot myself and i forgot about the brake
I forgot about all laws and i forgot about the rain”

This lyric from “The Happening” just pulls me in. Like forget about everything else out there and this is what is happening. It’s like you are in a trance in an alternate reality and there is nothing you can do to control it.

  2. “Sometimes you really don’t know what I mean Sometimes you really don’t know what I need”

    “All in My Mind”

These simple words sum up how most people make me feel on any given day.
