The Church announces 19-date North American tour in support of ‘Further/Deeper’

The Church 2014

The Church will follow February’s U.S. release of its new album Further/Deeper with a 19-date North American tour that will find the Aussie rockers performing both at San Francisco’s Noise Pop Festival and the South By Southwest Music Conference in Austin, Texas.

The new album, the band’s 25th, was released last month in Australia, but doesn’t arrive in North America until Feb. 3. It’s the long-running band’s first record without guitarist Marty Willson-Piper, who was “not available” and has been replaced by Powderfinger guitarist Ian Haug.

The tour opens Feb. 21 in Vancouver, B.C., and wraps up March 18-21 at South By Southwest.

  1. Anyone know where in SF?

  2. The Cat’s Cradle is in Carrboro/Chapel Hill NOT Raleigh

  3. Already bought my tickets for the Denver show, and I’m trying to figure out if I can make the Aspen show as well.

They are a fantastic band to see live.

It’s really great to see such a full tour as the last two times they came to the US their stops were very abridged.

Carrboro, NC (The Paris of the Piedmont) is the home of the Cat’s Cradle. Raleigh, NC is home to a dysfunctional state legislature and an ag college. Just so we’re clear. :) Looking forward to the show!

  5. How will they be without Marty? For me, he is the star of the band. Is he out permanently?

  6. Don’t you mean Steve Kilbey will be touring in support of his new solo album?

    • Yeah, it’s not like Peter Koppes was a founding member or anything. Or that Tim Powles hasn’t been in the band for 20 years.

  7. No, that’s clearly Kilby in the front right of the piccie. Marty is away from the band.
