The Cure’s two much-coveted Record Store Day releases — 2001’s Greatest Hits and a standalone release of its limited-edition companion Acoustic Hits, both as 2LP picture discs — will receive a general release later this month on standard vinyl.
As SuperDeluxeEdition points out, the two titles, both 2LP sets on black vinyl, are due for release June 30. They’re available for pre-order now via Amazon and Amazon.co.uk.
The Cure issued Greatest Hits as a final obligation to Fiction Records, collecting 16 tracks spanning 1979 to 1997, and adding two new songs (“Cut Here” and “Just Say Yes”). For a bonus disc included with early editions of the CD release, Robert Smith and Co. recorded acoustic versions of all 18 songs, enlisting former drummer Boris Williams to play percussion.

The Acoustic Hits might be interesting to have a vinyl. I am glad that this is standard vinyl because most picture discs sound like shit.
It’s amazing that Boris was involved, but it is an absolute shame that Boris plays the triangle while Cooper plays hip hop drums to the classic songs…

I am glad to see a black vinyl release of these two titles.
It’s amazing to know that Boris took part in the “Acoustic Hits” sessions but terribly unfortunate that his role was to accentuate the percussive element rather than drive it as the back bone.
He is missed… as is Andy Anderson!!!!
Jason Cooper has been around a long time now but for me, has always lacked a certain liveliness about his playing. I find it dull, predictable, and completely underwhelming, without any character.
Yeah, Cooper has been around since 1996 and only played on four so-so albums. Boris was in the band from 1985-1994 and played on four incredible five-star classics.
