Cindy Wilson of The B-52s to release solo debut, tour this fall — hear 1st single ‘Mystic’

Cindy Wilson, one of the founding vocalists of Athens, Ga., favorites The B-52s, will release her debut solo album — the electro-flavored Change — on Kill Rock Stars this fall and head out on what she’s calling an “unprecedented multimedia concert tour” of North America.

The album doesn’t yet have a release date, but is available for pre-order via Pledge Music. You can also hear the first single, “Mystic,” which premiered today at Stereogum, below.

The road to Change began a decade ago, according to Kill Rock Stars, when Wilson returned to Athens as a part-time resident, and met Ryan Monahan and Lemuel Hayes when their Beatles tribute band played her son’s birthday party. Wilson began teaming up with the two musicians to play local shows, then enlisted Suny Lyons, and the group recorded the Sunrise and Supernatural EPs over the last year or so.

The label describes the upcoming full-length debut:

Produced by Lyons at The Space Station in Athens, Change is as bold as anything in Wilson’s groundbreaking four-decade canon, melding future pop, disco drama, American standards, electronica, and more into her own distinctive creative vision. New songs like “Mystic” and the transformative title track are intricate and inventive, lush and luminous with strings, synthesizers, harmonies, and Wilson’s utterly distinct vocal magic.

Below, check out the first single, “Mystic,” and Wilson’s tour dates.
