Trashcan Sinatras to mark 30th anniversary with stripped-down acoustic tour of U.S.

A stripped-down Trashcan Sinatras — singer/guitarist Frank Reader, lead guitarist Paul Livingston and rhythm guitarist John Douglas — will celebrate the band’s 30th anniversary this fall with an acoustic tour of the U.S. dubbed “All Night with the Trashcan Sinatras.”

The tour opens Sept. 27 in Vienna, Va., and wraps up Nov. 2 in Charlotte, N.C., with 20 shows in between — and more to be announced. The performances will consist of two unique sets each night (except in New York City for some reason), and fans can expect covers and other rarities in the Scottish act’s set.

Says Douglas:

“We will be playing some songs live that we have never attempted before, so in some ways, it’s a tightrope walk for us. But, these songs are what we have done with our lives, so I accept the challenge and will try to not look down.”

The group, which formed in 1987, has released six albums over the course of its career, most recently last year’s Wild Pendulum. With a little more than 100 songs in their catalog, the band members are planning to perform each one of those songs over the course of the tour.

Reader says:

“Now that we’ve reached a century of songs, it feels like a good time to meet up with them all again, like a high school reunion. Those songs whose love and friendship we’ve nourished over the years will no doubt turn up most nights and show us why we’ve remained so close over the years, but it’ll be most interesting to see how those with whom we’ve lost touch have aged.”
