Auto Reverse, Mixtape — August 29, 2017 at 7:59 am

Listen: Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Auto Reverse Mixtape (August 2017) — Sounds of 1987

There’s been much talk these past few months about the 30th anniversary of some of the landmark albums released in 1987, so we figured we’d dedicate the August installment of the Auto Reverse mixtape series to some of the great songs released that year.

Below you’ll find this month’s mix — two 45-minute sides you can stream via Mixcloud — featuring music by Dinosaur Jr, The Cure, Hoodoo Gurus, The Smiths, Ramones, M/A/R/R/S, The Dukes of Stratosphear, Midnight Oil, Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode and more, all released in 1987.

One note: We’ve previously offered these mixes for download, but, due to some recent complications, we no longer are going to be doing that. Apologies to those who who preferred a download, but we’ll be going streaming-only for these monthly mixtapes from this point forward.

Check out the mixtape below — and enjoy.

That’s a shame about the lack of download. As someone who does most of their music listening in the car and from iPod, I hope you can resume them in the future.

  6. Oh 1987… I remember you well. Many of these songs were the soundtrack to my life at the time. Oh to be 17 again and cruising around in my battleship gray 1981 Pontiac J-2000 listening to 97X with a cigarette dangling out of my mouth. Id do it all over again, but I wouldn’t work at Taco Bell this time.

  7. Please bring back download ability!!!!!

  8. Great mixtape! I will miss the download ability but I appreciate the effort it takes to do these. Looking forward to more!

Mixtape playing in the background while doing tax forms. I find myself jamming to the music and forgetting my tax forms!
