‘Burning Britain’ box set to tell story of independent U.K. punk from 1980 to 1983

Cherry Red Records next month will follow up 2016’s Action Time Vision: A Story of Independent U.K. Punk 1976-1979 with a second box set featuring 114 “indie punk classics, rarities and obscurities” spanning 1980 to 1983, and spread over four discs.

The new box set, titled Burning Britain: A Story of Independent U.K. Punk 1980-1983 and promising material never before issued on CD, will be released April 27, and is available for pre-order now.

Burning Britain will feature some bigger names — The Damned, Toy Dolls, UK Subs and The Exploited — plus a wide range of lesser-known acts from genre-defining record labels like Riot City, No Future, Fallout, Clay, Mortarhate, Anagram, Step-Forward, Small Wonder, WXYZ, Rondelet, Spiderleg and Flicknife.

The set also includes a 64-page booklet with a forward by Ian Glasper, author of the book “Burning Britain,” and biographies of each of the bands included.
