BACKSTORY:  The punk legends return with their first new album in a decade, and 11th since forming in 1976.  The 10-song set, the follow-up to 2008’s So, Who is Paranoid?, features lead single “Standing on Edge of Tomorrow.”

RELEASE: Juliana Hatfield Sings Olivia Newton-John
BACKSTORY: The former Blake Babies singer this week releases a collection of 14 covers of songs by Olivia Newton-John, including renditions of “Hopelessly Devoted To You,” “Xanadu” and “I Honestly Love You.”

RELEASE: Take the Fall
BACKSTORY: The latest incarnation of the New York City post-punk/no wave act returns this week with a new five-track EP — the group’s first new music in a decade — featuring the songs “True Blue,” “Red Heavy” and “Mouse.”

RELEASE: Wide Awake in America, Pop, All That You Can’t Leave Behind
BACKSTORY: The Irish megastars this week release 180-gram vinyl reissues of their 1985 live/studio EP Wide Awake in America, as well as their 1997 studio album Pop and its 2000 follow-up All That You Can’t Leave Behind.

David Bowie

RELEASE: Changestwobowie
BACKSTORY: The Thin White Duke’s 1981 compilation receives a new reissue this week on CD and vinyl, and if you order the vinyl, you may get a black pressing or a blue one. It’s a supposedly random selection.
