You’ll hear nothing but The Cure on this weekend’s edition of Sirius XM’s ‘Dark Wave’

Sirius XM’s 1st Wave channel today begins its Fourth of July “4 for The Cure” weekend, with four-song blocks by Robert Smith and Co. every hour through Sunday, coupled with special all-Cure editions of Lori Majewski’s “Lust for Lists” and the Slicing Up Eyeballs-hosted “Dark Wave.”

Yes, that means this Sunday night’s “Dark Wave” — programmed and hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian — will feature three straight hours of music by The Cure and only The Cure, including deep album cuts, live versions, a remix or two and some obscure favorites.

The three-hour playlist will offer an overview of The Cure’s 40-year career — including music from Three Imaginary Boys up through 4.13 Dream — and focuses on the band’s the darker, less pop-oriented side.

“Dark Wave” airs every Sunday night at 10 p.m. Eastern / 7 p.m. Pacific on Sirius XM Satellite Radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33), and can be streamed On Demand on the Sirius XM app.

1st Wave’s “4 for The Cure” weekend is timed to coincide with the band’s massive 40th anniversary concert/festival in London’s Hyde Park on Saturday.

  5. I hope they play that song from the Reese Witherspoon movie.

  6. I downloaded seven miles worth of songs by The Cure two years ago to get me through my first winter of running outside. I knew some of their songs, prior to winter 2016/17, but I didn’t know they had recorded so many songs and for decades. I don’t always know what the words are or what the meaning is behind the songs, but I love the instrumentals. The music speaks to my soul. I could listen to just “The Cure” everyday and not get tired of them. I’m glad the three hours on Dark Wave was available to listen on demand. They should have their own station like The Beatles do. :-)
