Fans at long last will be able to get their hands on a copy of the “Industrial Accident: The Story of Wax Trax! Records” documentary, as the film — and a much-anticipated soundtrack — will be released in April, according to an email sent today to the project’s Kickstarter backers.
In that message, Julia Nash — daughter of late Wax Trax! co-founder Jim Nash — writes:
“I can report with 100% certainty that we will be releasing both the DVD and the soundtrack in April of 2019. We have officially cleared the last of our commercial licensing hurdles. Just to be crystal clear, this isn’t ‘we’re working on it’ or ‘if everything goes as planned,’ or any other ambiguous language in case we run into obstacles. The soundtrack WILL be released in conjunction with the DVD next April.”
In the note, Nash later refers to a “Bluray/DVD” release, so it sounds like the film will be available on both physical formats: “We will be rolling out special editions throughout next year, but the current cut of the film will be available in April.” She does not mention digital formats, nor whether the soundtrack will be on CD, vinyl, digital — or all three. No details, or tracklist, of the soundtrack have been made public.
To date, the 90-minute documentary — originally announced in 2013 as “Wax Trax! Records: The Documentary,” and later dubbed the “Wax Trax! Records Monumentary” — has only been screened at special events and film festivals over the last year-and-a-half.

Saw the documentary last night in NYC. If you were even remotely a fan of the Wax Trax era, you’ll appreciate the film.
