a-ha returning to U.S. for first time in a decade to play 2 concerts in September 2020

Norwegian pop trio a-ha will return to American shores next year for the first time in a decade when they bring their Hunting High and Low Live tour to the U.S. for two as-yet-unannounced concerts in September — and they hope to play more stateside shows in 2021.

As our friends at Strangeways Radio point out, the band announced these plans on Facebook this week, writing, “We understand and appreciate that you want more U.S. shows, but let’s at least make the most of the two we found time for and we will try our best to be able to be back in the U.S. in 2021.”

The two concerts will take place on Sept. 25 and 26, 2020, and the band plans to announce details — presumably including where they’ll take place — next week.

A-ha’s Hunting High and Love Live tour plays the U.K. and Europe this fall and winter, with dates in the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Japan stretching into 2020. Beyond that, the band writes on Facebook, “We will return to Europe for more dates, as well as paying visit to some classic a-ha cities in other parts of the world, and exploring a few more new ones.”

They add: “We have only managed to squeeze in two U.S. shows in next year’s schedule, but hopefully we will see the fans more frequently from now on. It certainly cannot be less frequent!”

A-ha last performed in North America in spring 2010 when it brought its Ending on a High Note farewell tour — they’ve since reunited — over to play shows in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Toronto.
