Depeche Mode, Jack White, Patti Smith, Glasvegas help cover U2’s ‘Achtung Baby’

Members of Depeche Mode and Glasvegas each have revealed that their bands have recorded new U2 covers that appear to be connected to the Irish megaband’s 20th anniversary reissue of ‘Achtung Baby,’ which arrives in November in a variety of formats including a $660 ‘uber deluxe’ edition stuffed with CDs, DVDs, vinyl and more.

After teasing fans with a couple 30-second clips from its forthcoming ‘Tour of the Universe: Live in Barcelona’ DVD and Blu-ray, Depeche Mode today offered up something a bit more substantial: a nearly 6-minute electronic press kit for the film, featuring performance footage, backstage clips and interviews with Dave Gahan, Martin Gore and Andy Fletcher.
