Bauhaus’ David J turns to Kickstarter to fund new solo album ‘An Eclipse of Ships’

David J, the former bassist of Bauhaus and Love and Rockets, has launched a Kickstarter campaign seeking to raise $30,000 from fans to fund the completion of his next solo album — An Eclipse of Ships, described as “a journal of the heart and a paean to Woman as muse.”

Bauhaus’ David J will treat fans this Halloween to “an exquisite new cinematic interpretation” of the band’s iconic song “Bela Lugosi’s Dead,” a remake called “Undead is Forever” and which will feature “signature post-classical piano” from Jill Tracy and an excerpt of Lord Byron’s vampire poem “The Giaour.”

That 25th anniversary edition of Peter Murphy’s sophomore album isn’t the only Bauhaus-related title on Cherry Red Records’ November release calendar: The U.K. label also is planning a 3CD box set of Daniel Ash solo material as well as an expanded 2CD reissue of David J’s solo debut Etiquette of Violence.
