Making their first U.S. television appearance in eight years, Jane’s Addiction appeared on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ last night to perform their new single ‘Irresistible Force,’ off the upcoming ‘The Great Escape Artist,’ as well as a show-closing take on the classic ‘Stop!’ See both performances here.

Jane’s Addiction has done a fairly good job keeping details of its forthcoming album ‘The Great Escape Artist’ under wraps — a tracklist has yet to be revealed, for example — but the band’s label, Capitol Records, has now released the cover art for the record.

When Peter Hook & The Light played their first of this week’s two shows in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, the band was joined by a pair of special guests: Moby and Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, who helped the legendary bassist perform a total of four Joy Division classics at The Music Box.

Twenty years ago today, the Perry Farrell-spawned Lollapalooza festival — which, in retrospect, joins Nevermind as perhaps the best historical encapsulation of ‘the year punk broke’ — made its debut in the sun-baked Arizona desert with performances by Nine Inch Nails, Living Colour, Siouxsie and the Banshees and Jane’s Addiction.
