Black Rebel Motorcycle Club this week released the first single off their upcoming seventh album, ‘Specter at the Feast,’ as a free MP3 — and, perhaps not surprisingly, it’s a cover of “Let the Day Begin,” the classic 1989 single by The Call, whose frontman, the late Michael Been, is the father of BRMC’s Robert Levon Been.

Singer/bassist Michael Been of modern-rock trio The Call — best known for their ’80s radio hits ‘The Walls Came Down,’ ‘I Still Believe’ and ‘Let the Day Begin’ — suffered a heart attack and died tonight backstage at the Pukkelpop music festival in Belgium. He was 60.
