Huge news out of Riot Fest this week, with The Cure announced as one of the headliners of the 2023 installment of the three-day Chicago festival.

The Cure will return to North America following the band’s just-underway amphitheater tour to join Foo Fighters, The Postal Service, Death Cab for Cutie and more.

The Charlatans recently completed a North American tour with Ride, and while the bands were in Seattle, Tim Burgess and Co. stopped by KEXP.

Cocteau Twins co-founder Robin Guthrie teased on social media this past week that he’s been working with former label 4AD on “several projects.”

Seattle’s KEXP has just shared a nearly 40-minute live set by Ride that the shoegaze legends performed for the radio station last October ahead of their proper concert that night. The nine-song set is taken entirely from This Is Not a Safe Place, the band’s second post-reunion album, which was released last August.

Reunited shoegazers Ride have expanded their North American tour in support their first new album in 20 years, Weather Diaries, following up their short run of July concerts with seven more shows in the U.S. and Mexico in late September and early October.

Reunited shoegazers Ride have followed up the release of their first new music in more than two decades with plans to perform a “select run” of North American dates in July, a five-concert trek that sees the band playing Toronto, Boston, New York City, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

Seminal shoegaze act Ride went 21 years without releasing new music, but after debuting “Charm Assault” this week, the wait for more was just 24 hours. The band has now shared a second new track, the meditative “Home is a Feeling,” which you can hear here.

Reunited shoegaze legends Ride today debuted their first new music in 21 years, releasing the song “Charm Assault” that presumably is a taste of the band’s as-yet-announced fifth studio album, which is expected out sometime this summer. The new song is produced by Erol Alkan and mixed by Alan Moulder.

Sure, he’s got that Ride reunion to deal with, but that’s not the only thing on Mark Gardener’s plate these days: The frontman for the reunited shoegaze legends announced that his long-in-the-works album with Cocteau Twins guitarist Robin Guthrie is titled Universal Road and finally will see the light of day this March.
