The highlights of tonight’s ‘Dark Wave’ on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave include The Swans’ cover of ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart,’ a dash of German synthpop from Cetu Javu, The March Violets’ classic ‘Snake Dance’ and a nice Bauhaus/David J/Love and Rockets run toward the end of the show.

While this week’s installment of ‘Dark Wave’ on Sirius XM featured a host of all-too-usual suspects (The Cure’s ‘Other Voices,’ Public Image Ltd.’s ‘Rise,’ The Sisters of Mercy’s ‘Lucretia, My Reflection’), there were, as always, some pleasant surprises, including ‘Bird Mad Girl’ from the aforementioned Cure, a dash of the always-welcome Chameleons and even a Chris Connelly track.

Got an e-mail this morning from “120 Minutes” creator/host Dave Kendall revealing that the Whitman Samplers’ parody song “Really Stupid” will “make its glorious debut” on Sirius XM Satellite Radio’s “Party 360 with Dave Kendall” tomorrow night.

Kudos to “120 Minutes” creator/host Dave Kendall for tracking down and posting a copy of the long-forgotten early-’90s parody song “Really Stupid,” which poked fun at the Brit VJ by sampling his voice (”Do you ever wake up in the morning and think… I am really stupid?”) over a sampled riff from AC/DC’s “Back in [...]

Sirius XM’s 1st Wave to dedicate a week to Robert Smith and The Cure in April

Tags: , , , , , ,

Details are still a bit sketchy, but Sirius XM’s 1st Wave channel — for longtime XM listeners, that’s the watered-down replacement for the late, lamented Fred — will dedicate a full week to The Cure in April.
