Record Rack: A round-up of the week’s new albums, expanded reissues and/or box sets, appearing each Monday on Slicing Up Eyeballs. All releases due out this Friday unless noted.  This week’s releases include new and reissued titles from Dead Can Dance, Yazoo, OMD and The Art of Noise.

Here’s a preview of the new box set from Yazoo – the classic synthpop duo of Alison Moyet and Vince Clarke that was christened Yaz in the U.S. – that arrives this fall, a remix of the classic 1982 single “Situation” by contemporary producer Richard X. You can stream the track here.

]Yazoo – the classic synthpop duo of Alison Moyet and Vince Clarke that was christened Yaz in the U.S. – last month announced plans for a 4-disc box set collecting it two albums, plus remixes and BBC radio sessions that was to be released only on heavyweight vinyl and digital formats.  Now it’ll be released on CD, too.

Yazoo – the hugely influential synthpop duo of Alison Moyet and Vince Clarke that was christened Yaz in the U.S. – will release a 4LP vinyl box set this fall called Four Pieces that collects the group’s two albums plus a set of remixes and their two BBC radio sessions. Three weeks ago, we launched the inaugural Slicing Up Eyeballs Readers Poll in an effort to gauge what this site’s frequenters think are the year’s best new albums and reissues. Now, with hundreds of ballots cast, the results are in.

It’s a huge new release week, with new albums from Killing Joke and Bad Religion; live albums from Yazoo and Tom Tom Club; reissues from Duran Duran, David Bowie, The Fall and Morrissey; and new compilations from Soundgarden, KMFDM and David Sylvian.

Fans who purchase Yazoo’s forthcoming ‘Reconnected Live’ album on iTunes will get a much-coveted bonus: the previously unreleased track ‘Get Set,’ recorded by Alison Moyet and Vince Clarke in 1983 for use as the theme to the BBC children’s TV show ‘Get Set For Summer.’

The release of ‘Reconnected Live’ — the 2CD, 20-track document of 2008’s Yazoo/Yaz reunion tour — is still a couple weeks off, but Mute Records has posted this four-song sampler to whet the appetites of fans of the Vince Clarke/Alison Moyet project.

The recently reunited Yazoo — or Yaz, as the Vince Clarke/Alison Moyet group was known here in the U.S. — have released a short video trailer for their upcoming ‘Reconnected Live,’ the 20-song document of the duo’s 2008 reunion tour, which arrives Sept. 27 in the U.K.
