Playlist: Sirius XM’s ‘Dark Wave,’ 4/4/10

Sirius XM's 1st Wave

Once you accept that certain songs apparently must be played every episode — weekly show opener “Rise” by Public Image Ltd., plus  The Sisters of Mercy’s “Lucretia, My Reflection,” Siouxise and the Banshees’ “Slowdive” and The Mission UK’s “Wasteland” — tonight’s installment of “Dark Wave” on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave was actually pretty strong.

Highlights from tonight’s show include a rare selection from Die Warzu (“Never Again”), Depeche Mode’s greatest B-side (“Dangerous”) and a one-off 1989 industrial-dance single from the long-forgotten Gruesome Twosome (“Hallucination Generation”). Plus, the playlist actually ventured outside of the ’80s, offering ’90s and ’00s cuts from The Cure (“Burn”), Love and Rockets (“Sweet F.A.”) and Bauhaus (“Black Stone Heart”).

“Dark Wave” airs each Sunday from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern/7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Pacific.

  1. I think the Danzig is like a first for the show. Nice to see that somebody is playing him.

  2. Depeche Mode’s greatest B-side: ”Dangerous.”

    Agreed!
