Bad Religion announces 30th anniversary concerts, plans to record 15th album

Bad Religion, circa 2007

Southern California punk pioneers Bad Religion are celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2010, and the band will kick off a year’s worth of festivities with a springtime run of 12 West Coast club dates before hitting the studio to record their 15th studio album for release this fall.

Starting March 17, the band — founders Brett Gurewitz, Jay Bentley and Greg Graffin, with Greg Hetson (1984-present), Brian Baker (1994-present) and Brooks Wackerman (2001-present) — will play a string of multiple-night stands “perform(ing) music spanning their storied career” at House of Blues clubs in Southern California — Los Angeles, Anaheim and San Diego — and Las Vegas (see full dates below).

In a news release from Epitaph Records, Graffin says:

“The greatest feeling about this anniversary is that it is happening at all. I’m mostly uplifted by the fact that a vibrant and evolving punk scene still inspires young people all over the world.  If Bad Religion somehow serves as a symbol for the lasting importance of punk, then I am satisfied beyond words by reaching this milestone.”

A video trailer for the opening run of 30th anniversary dates claims Bad Religion will play “back to back every night March 17 thru April 17 at House of Blues.” If that’s true, they’ll likely start adding more shows if the 12 announced gigs sell well. According to Epitaph, the band “will continue the celebration of their distinguished career with extensive touring, (a) new website, exclusive merchandise, surprise releases and a new album in 2010.”

    Hiya, BR…
Hope you make it back to Australia in 2010! However, please consult me prior to making any travel arrangements to avoid the clash with public/school holidays, and therefore avoid a repetition of the grief I suffered in 2009! It was a nightmare at the time, but evolved as a great story which has provided some free dinners….!
    Cheers.
