My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult preps ‘Sinister Whisperz’ ’87-’91 comp, touring U.S.

My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult, circa 1990

Industrial mainstays My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult will revisit their late-’80s, early-90s tenure on Chicago’s trailblazing Wax Trax! Records with a new compilation this summer and tours with Psychotica and Lords of Acid.

Due out July 13 and billed as the first in a series, Sinister Whisperz — Volume One: The ‘Wax Trax’ years (1987-1991) features a dozen tracks spanning the band’s four albums on the Chicago-based label — but not, for some reason, the Thrill Kill Kult’s best-known song, “Sex on Wheelz” — plus an outtake from that era called “Satana Rising.”

The tracks, which include “And This is What the Devil Does” and “A Daisy Chain 4 Satan” (see full tracklist below), have been remixed by the band’s Buzz McCoy: “It was like visiting old friends after 20 years by remixing those songs. And it was nice to finally add some sonic sparkle to those dusty, old tracks!”

The new compilation will be sold in three formats: a single CD or one of two limited-edition box sets packaged with the 10-track bonus disc Live in San Antonio 6/10/1990.

The band currently is on tour, hitting a string of West Coast dates this month with New York “glam-sex-shock-rockers” Psychotica. That will be followed by a reprise this summer of 1995’s co-headlining Sextacy Ball tour with Lords of Acid (see dates below). According to the band’s website, “The tour will also evoke the look and sound of those early ‘industrial’ years, and the set list will reflect on that era as well.”

UPDATE 6/4/10: Full Sextacy Ball tour dates added.

  1. the state theatre is in St. Pete Florida, not Tampa

  2. You missed a bunch of dates! Check out http://www.sextacyball.com
Many of the dates look like duplicates. TKK started their own tour, and then booked the Sextacy tour with LOA, a month and a half later, hitting the same route and many of the same venues again, causing a bit of confusion.

  3. Thanks, I’ll add those — they weren’t announced when I posted this initially.
