U2 announces rescheduled North American dates for 360° Tour in summer 2011

Nearly two months after scrubbing its entire North American summer tour, U2 today announced 16 rescheduled dates for the 360° Tour’s long-planned second stateside leg, which now will open nearly a year late on May 21, 2011, in Denver and run through July 23, 2011, in Minneapolis.

All tickets for this summer’s canceled stadium shows — called off after Bono underwent emergency back surgery in late May — will be valid at next year’s dates, although fans who can’t make the gigs next summer may get refunds, according to the band.

In a video posted to U2.com earlier today and seen above, U2’s members apologized for the delay in returning to North America, but said they’re ready to resume the previously announced European leg of the tour Aug. 6 in Turin, Italy. As Bono says, “I’m ready. Rebuilt by German engineering, better design, I’m told. I’ll be fighting fit next summer in the U.S. Looking forward to this summer in Europe.”
