‘This Is Big Audio Dynamite’ reissue to include outtake ‘Electric Vandal,’ 4 unreleased mixes

Big Audio Dynamite, circa mid-'80s

The expanded 2CD reissue of This Is Big Audio Dynamite — the 1985 debut from Mick Jones’ post-Clash project, Big Audio Dynamite — will feature 12 bonus remixes, dub versions, B-sides and outtakes, including the previously unreleased track “Electric Vandal,” according to the tracklist from Sony/Legacy.

However, the release of This is Big Audio Dynamite: Legacy Edition — overseen by band member, filmmaker and DJ Don Letts — has been delayed once again, this time until April 27 (originally it was due out last Sept. 8, and then rescheduled for Feb. 16).

The set’s first disc will feature a newly remastered version of the eight-track album, while the second CD will include many of the B-sides and mixes featured on the album’s three singles — “The Bottom Line,” “E=MC²″ and “Medicine Show” — as well as five mixes and outtakes that haven’t previously been released. (See full tracklist after the jump.)

Those unreleased tracks include 12-inch mixes of album cuts “Sudden Impact” and “Stone Thames,” plus a a dub take on “Sony” and a “vocoder version” of “BAD.” The real draw for fans, though, will be “Electric Vandal,” a completed song left off This Is Big Audio Dynamite that Letts premiered on his BBC6 radio show in March. Three other outtakes that fans say once were planned for release — “Wind Me Up,” “Interaction” and “Keep Off the Grass” — are not on the final tracklist.
