Morrissey sets 9-date U.K. tour, will headline Hop Farm fest with Lou Reed, Iggy Pop

Morrissey

For his first live dates since a series of trouble-prone 2009 outings, Morrissey will make his return to the stage this summer with a nine-date U.K. tour leading up to a slot headlining the Hop Farm Music Festival alongside such rock icons as Lou Reed, Iggy & The Stooges and Patti Smith.

According to dates released today to True To You, Morrissey will open the short trek with five concerts in Scotland, beginning June 15 in Perth, followed by four more shows in England before the July 2 performance at the Hop Farm fest in Kent, which also will feature an appearance by The Pretenders (see dates below).

The former Smiths frontman last toured in 2009, a series of worldwide treks that saw disruptions on stage — in the U.K., Moz suffered an on-stage collape in Swindon and was struck in the head with a water bottle in Liverpool — and off, thanks to on-and-off illness that led to at least 20 cancellations in the U.S. and Europe.
