David Byrne concert film ‘Ride, Rise, Roar’ to premiere at South By Southwest in March

David Byrne in "Ride, Rise, Roar"

“Ride, Rise, Roar” — a new concert film documenting the creation and staging of David Byrne’s ambitious  “The Songs of David Byrne and Brian Eno” tour in 2008 and 2009 — will receive its world premiere with three screenings next month at the South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.

Directed by David Hillman Curtis, the film both delves into Byrne’s creation of his highly choreographed stage show and shows performances from the concerts, built around Everything That Happens Will Happen Today, Byrne’s 2008 collaboration with Brian Eno, and their previous work together, including with Talking Heads.

As the film’s creators put it:

“Between the songs, the film achieves an unprecedented intimacy with David Byrne and the band, documenting behind-the-scenes auditions, rehearsals, and interviews with key players while revealing the creative process that led to the show’s unique fusion of pop music and modern dance.”

The feature-length film currently is set to receive screenings on March 15, 18 and 20 (see full schedule below) during the film portion of SXSW. Watch the full trailer here.
