Milestones: Wayne Hussey is 53 today; watch The Mission live in Dusseldorf in 1990

It’s Wayne Hussey’s birthday today — he’s 53 — and to honor the co-founder of goth-rock luminaries The Mission (he also did time in The Sisters of Mercy and, very early on, Dead or Alive), we present this 1990 concert filmed in Dusseldorf during the Carved in Sand tour and broadcast on German television.

So in anticipation of the band’s upcoming reunion for its 25th anniversary, you can watch the full 13-song performance — uploaded by YouTube user VladDark78 — in the playlist embedded above, or check out the individual tracks (including a great cover of Neil Young’s classic “Like a Hurricane”) over at Slicing Up Video.

Happy 53rd Wayne! Great footage. Saw them in 1990 at the Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood, CA. with The Wonderstuff opening. Saw them later in 1990 at a club called the Strand in Redondo Beach, CA. with Masters of Reality opening. Epic shows!

  3. Long live Wayne! x2!
