Video: Big Audio Dynamite reunites original lineup in Liverpool for first gig in 22 years

Last night in Liverpool, Mick Jones brought his post-Clash outfit Big Audio Dynamite out of retirement for the original lineup’s first concert in 22 years, the opening night of a nine-date U.K. tour that will be followed by a pair of U.S. gigs and a slot at the Coachella festival in California next month.

According to this setlist, the band — also featuring Don Letts, Dan Donovan, Greg Roberts and Leo ‘E. Zee Kill’ Williams — opened its 13-song set with the classic “Medicine Show” and played such favorites as “The Bottom Line,” “Just Play Music,” “V13” and “E=MC2” before closing with the BAD II smash “Rush” (see full setlist below).

After the gig, Jones told the BBC that he chose Liverpool to open the tour because, “After London, it’s our second home. They love us here and we love them. That’s why we started here because we knew we’d get a good start off” (stream full interview below).

We’ve started assembling fan-shot video of the gig; there’s a clip posted above, and more below. It’s pretty low-quality stuff, both audio- and video-wise right now, but we’ll continue to update as better footage inevitably surfaces. You can also see a just-revealed clip of BAD rehearsing for the reunion tour, also posted below.

  1. I’m off to London to see them tomorrow, and am going up to Nottingham to see them again in the week, and fuck me, I haven’t been this excited since I last saw them in 1989.

Thanks for this post, genuinely gave me goosebumps.

Don’t know if I’ve ever commented before, but keep up the good work on this blog, I loves it :)
