New releases: Trent Reznor’s ‘Dragon Tattoo,’ The Cure box set, David Bowie on vinyl

BACKSTORY: The Nine Inch Nails mastermind re-teams with his “The Social Network” collaborator to deliver a 3CD score to David Fincher’s new adaptation of the Stieg Larsson bestseller. The soundtrack, which arrives this week in CD format, includes a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O on vocals.

Classic Album Selections (1979-1984)
The first five albums from Robert Smith & Co. — 1979’s Three Imaginary Boys, 1980’s Seventeen Seconds, 1981’s Faith, 1982’s Pornography and 1984’s The Top — are packaged together in this new, no-frills box set, available overseas earlier this month and now arriving on these shores as an import title.

BACKSTORY: The Thin White Duke’s 2002 album is reissued this week on 180-gram audiophile vinyl by Music on Vinyl. The 12-track collection features nine originals and covers of the Pixies’ “Cactus,” Neil Young’s “I’ve Been Waiting for You” and the Legendary Stardust Cowboy’s “I Took a Trip on a Gemini Spaceship.”

File Under Sacred Music: Early Singles 1978-1981
This collection, arriving int he U.K. this week, compiles 22 singles by the horror-punk group, including the songs “The Mad Daddy,” “I Can’t Hardly Wait,” “Mystery Plane,” “The Way I Walk,” “Human Fly,” “Goo Goo Muck,” “Human Fly,” “The Crusher,” “New Kind of Kick” and many more.
