RELEASE: Lost Sirens
BACKSTORY: Rhino Records this week releases the long-delayed 8-song mini-album of material left over from the sessions for 2005’s Waiting For the Sirens’ Call. The set, released digitally in the U.S. and on CD and vinyl in the U.K., features six unreleased songs and alternate takes of two other tracks (stream full album).

ARTIST : The Replacements
RELEASE: Songs For Slim
BACKSTORY: The Replacements’ first release since 1990’s All Shook Down goes on sale Tuesday morning via a charity auction to sell off 250 limited-edition 10-inch vinyl copies to benefit guitarist Slim Dunlap, who suffered a stroke last year. The five-track EP will be released digitally and on 12-inch vinyl in the future (full auction details).

ARTIST : Talk Talk
RELEASE: Natural History: The Very Best of Talk Talk, Natural Order 1982-1991
BACKSTORY: EMI this week, in the U.K., reissues the experimental pop act’s prior best-of Natural History plus a new compilation called Natural Order curated by Mark Hollis and designed to show the “other” side of Talk Talk by highlighting the band’s less commercial output.

ARTIST : Einstürzende Neubauten
RELEASE: “Live at Rockpalast 1990”
BACKSTORY: The German industrial group this week release a DVD capturing the band’s 1990 concert for the German TV show “Rockpalast.” The DVD features 16 tracks, including “Feurio,” “Der Tod ist ein Dandy,” “Sehnsucht” and “Armenia.” An audio version was released digitally last month (see full tracklist).

ARTIST : The Pretenders
RELEASE: Learning to Crawl
BACKSTORY: The classic third album from Chrissie Hynde and Co. this week receives a reissue from Mobile Fidelity as an audiophile CD/SACD hybrid disc. The record features such tracks as “Middle of the Road,” “Back on the Chain Gang,” “Thin Line Between Love and Hate,” “Time the Avenger” and “2000 Miles.”
