Listen: Tommy Keene gives what might be final interview to Rockin’ the Suburbs podcast

Our friends at the Rockin’ the Suburbs podcast had the good fortune of recently sitting down with power-pop icon Tommy Keene for a long look back at his career, an interview that now, following his unexpected death last week, serves as a memorial to the good-hearted singer-songwriter.

Co-hosts Jim Lenahan and Patrick Foster interviewed Keene about two months ago, and had not yet posted the audio when they learned of his death. They’ve now split the chat — which they believe may be Keene’s final interview — into three episodes, beginning with a look at his early career playing in bands, then continuing with an overview of his breakthrough solo career in the ’80s, followed by a final segment about his work in the ’90s with Paul Westerberg and Robert Pollard, and beyond.

The first two episodes already have been released, and can be streamed below. The third posts tomorrow; get it by subscribing to Rockin’ the Suburbs via iTunes or audioBoom.
