Peter Murphy is currently on tour in Europe with former Bauhaus bandmate David J, performing their erstwhile band’s iconic debut album, In the Flat Field, in full each night. Somewhere along the line, somebody made off with Murphy’s crown, which he uses in the shows.

Murphy’s social media accounts spread the word Friday afternoon, announcing:

“Peter’s crown was stolen after a recent show. To whomever has the crown or knows anything about the theft or where it is, please contact info@petermurphy.info. Your information will be kept private and confidential. This is an important personal item and we just want to see it returned.”

The tour was in Italy the last two nights, and plays Munich, Germany, tonight.

it was either Robert Smith or Andrew Eldritch ..but i dont think it’ll fit over the Bob ‘do

  2. I was the top bidder on eBay Italy but the seller was charging too much to ship it to me in the U.S. I’ll wait for it (the replacement crown) to be stolen again at a closer venue…

  3. This news really cuts me up.

Hmm. Wonder where Danny Ash was during that time? Curiouser and curiouser, said Alice.

    Kidding, of course.

Reminds me of the time (1987) Al Jourgensen lost his beret and microphone in the crowd while he was stage diving. They kept asking the crowd to give it out and offered to let whoever had it “party with Al” if they gave it back. Many years later I was wearing a Ministry shirt and a girl I ran into noticed it and found out she was also at the show and that her friend still had the beret and microphone from that night.
