“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

  1. “The Blue Hour” by Christian Death for the 1st show of 2025! Merry Xmas!

  2. Merry Christmas everyone!

  3. That was really good. Next year, if you can find it, try to get “Xmas Time (It Sure Doesn’t Feel Like It)” from a Boston Band called the Dogmatics. They recorded it in the mid 80’s I heard it on the radio back in the day I also saw them live a few times too but I know they did record it. It will fit right in

  4. I don’t think this episode is in the on-demand section, yet.

  5. This was a great one! Thanks, Matt!

Here some requests going into the new year –

Screams for Tina – Eleven Eleven
Samhain – To Walk the Night

    Thanks!

  6. Super fun holiday spectacular last night. Dare I say a bit more festive than the last couple of years? A double dose of The Fall was certainly a welcome early present. Not to mention some Weddoes, thanks for playing my Ride request (they were awesome live last Friday) and I am a massive R.E.M. fan and somehow had never heard their slice of bah humbug. Sirius needs to get the show on demand already. We need to listen to the replay while making cookies.

I’m thinking a great song to kick off the new year would be 63 seconds of blissful shredding from Dead Kennedys – “Nazi Punks Fuck Off”

Merry Xmas to you and your family Matt and to the dark wave family, cheers!

  7. Awesome set Matt! Great to see Husker Du on your show. Would love to hear anything from Sugar- especially off of Copper Blue. “A Good Idea,” is my favorite.

  8. Great X-mas show Matt !!!

The Cure is a tough one for a Xmas show, but maybe next year Snow in Summer ?

In next few weeks, can I request Pepperment Pig (12”)
    By Cocteau Twins

    Constantine

  9. A really excellent Christmas dark wave extravaganza!!! I loved all the selections!!! Wishing you nothing but festive tidings and a happy new year…..I can’t speak for you, but I’m certainly hoping 2025 is better. Some possible suggestions for next time:

Bush – In A Lonely Place

Thanks again as always! Merry Christmas DW ers!!!

  10. I loved this Christmas show. For the next show I would love to hear a very underrated band without a lot of recognition. The band is Majesty Crush and the song is “Uma”. If you could play that song it would be awesome. Thanks.

  11. For this New Year’s show it is a must to hear
    Happy New Year- Luna.
    A fantastic cover of Shockabilly.
Great stuff on the Christmas spectacular. Really dug that Medicine track. Really can’t get anything better when it comes to winter than a bunch of shoegaze bands.

  12. Richard Groves

That was a great show like rest.
next year don’t forget Father Christmas by the Kinks.. Keep doing what your doing.

  13. Depeche Mode – Halo (Goldfrapp Remix) 2004 Apple Music + qobuz
Colourfield – Pushing Up The Daisies 1985 Apple Music + qobuz

    Happy Festivus

  14. “Fall” by The JAMC would be wonderful to hear.

  15. I would like to request “Touch the Skies” by Pink Turns Blue.
    Happy Yule, Matt.

  16. Nancy Crichton

Wow! Excellent Christmas Spectacular thanks! Including Kate Bush’s “50 Words for Snow” was bittersweet but my favorite track. I have been a huge Kate Bush fan since seeing her sitting on Paul Schaffer’s piano on SNL in 1978 (Yes, I’m that old).
Bittersweet because this song became a quick favorite of my late husband, though he loved the brilliant exchange between Stephen Fry and Kate Bush: it was the genius of Steve Gadd that blew him away.
A gifted drummer on his own, he often quipped that many may have missed that Steve Gadd’s perfectly timed drum track was played by hand and not a well programmed drum machine.
Every time I hear this under-valued song, I think of him.

  17. Thanx Matt, it made my Christmas, great stuff! Wonder what the last Dark Wave episode of 2024 is gonna be…..can’t wait!In the meanwhile, here are some requests for a new year 2025:
Albert Speer by MACHINES OF LOVING GRACE
    Side f/x by SHOTGUN MESSIAH
Triangle Tangle Tango by SEVERED HEADS
    Thanx & Happy New Year

  18. Thank you for the wonderful and festive Christmas mix. So many gems – Low, Galaxie 500, Cocteau Twins, Sinead, and the punk stuff all highlights for me…

  19. Happy Holidays!
The Christmas Spectacular was really spectacular !

  20. Michael Gerdwagon

Can you please play the new single from Throwing Muses, “Summer Of Love,” and the new single from Andy Bell from Ride, “I’m in Love With A German Film Star,” which is a cover from the band The Moderns.
