“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).
The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.
Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

Creep is my personal favorite, possibly song ever? All the cool kids like the shoegaze so keep it coming. However, I have a request for something a little different than Slowdive.
The Electric Hellfire Club- Psychedelic Sacrifice
What a wonderful way to start the new year. Thank you for doing the Lord’s work.
Thanks for the Monaco. You picked a great closing song for the last show of 2024 and a great song to open 2025. Have to go with Hour 2 for one of the best Shoegaze blocks you’ve played. Comsat Angels was also a high point.
Would like to request “Do You Dream of Angels” by No More for a future episode please.
Thanks for getting the New Year off to a solid start. Have a good week.

Thanks Matt!
Got out a little early last night, hopped in my car after work just in time for Clan Of Xymox, so grateful.
Next week perhaps Atmosphere by Paul Haig, the “in dub” version?
I thank you Matt and grateful to to the fullest. We all are
Happy new year! That shoegaze block hit perfectly last night. I have a request for next week’s show (or any future episode), as it falls the day after my birthday.
“Warsawa” by David Bowie
I’ll second the Bowie request. And happy early birthday Shane.
Thirded!
And timed really well, as January 10, 2016 was when we lost Bowie.
Let’s fourth that request, great track off the brilliant “Low” album.
Thanks, Nicole!
Malaria! – Thrash Me
…for the next show. Thanks!
Great start to ’25!
Here are some requests –
Wall of Voodoo – Look At Their Way
Wipers – True Believer
Thanks!
Julian Cope – Head Hang Low
Excellent kick off to the new year! Loved that Gang of Four cover, that was a new one for me. Each hour was finely balanced. And I think you won’t ever get any complaints about a shoegaze block, especially when some Suede is included. Thanks for playing that request.
With today being Jan. 6 I’m thinking of a great deep cut by Love and Rockets. How about “Words of a Fool” on a future show.
Have a great week Matt, cheers!
Great request Nathan!
Thanks for playing that version of Everything Counts – it was special and appreciated! Really dug the David Silviyan (haven’t heard that one in ages) and Sweet Jane cover and everything else in the show. Great way to spend Sunday night, as always.
For a future episode, if and where it might fit in, how about ‘Theme for Great Cities’ by Simple Minds?
Thanks, Matt, and Happy New Year, Dark Wavers!
Happy New Year! I loved this mix to kick off 2025 (with a perfect opening track). Thank you for including my Ride request – it’s so appreciated. Also enjoyed Gang of Four, The Smiths, The Sound, Monaco, Love and Rockets…
A request for a future episode:
The Jesus and Marychain’s cover of “Tower of Song”
Thank you!
Also a great request Nicole! JAMC have so many stellar covers.
Yes another great request!
Awesome Show!!! Japan & David Sylvian!
Those are always welcome artist.
Future request…Revolting Cocks – Public Image Live & Fred – Mindblower
Cheers, Aug
Happy new year Matt!! I loved the program! Thanks for the Shoegaze block and for playing my Slowdive request!! Love that track!! Some possible suggestions for next time:
The Cure – The Caterpillar (Flicker Mix)
Bigod 20 – The Bog (Shot Mix)
Switchblade Symphony – Mine Eyes
Thanks again as always!!! 。◕‿◕。
I second the Flicker Mix!
If you could fit “ Pancake” by The Swirlies into the mix for the next show that would be kick ass!
Bauhaus – The Passion Of Lovers (1981)
The Raveonettes – I Wanna Be Adored (2013) Apple + Qobuz
Happy New Year, Matt! Catching up on some overdue comments…
Thanks for playing my Sonic Youth request a few weeks back, was a fantastic 1-2 punch following Big Black.
Especially loved the songs by The Sound and The Birthday Party from tonight’s show and ‘Creep’ has been my favorite RevCo so far.
Will echo sentiments of last week’s Year End closeout being extra special. The shoegaze set was like Manna from Heaven (loved the inclusion of Loop!). Such a great mix of songs, and this week’s more condensed set was also great. Please keep those coming. Always a thrill when a Foetus project makes it onto the show and I also loved the Joy Division ‘Atmosphere’ closer.
Inspired by that, I’d like request for the new year slowcore greats Codeine’s cover of Atmosphere.
Is it too late to request Cabaret Voltaire’s “I Want You” for a future broadcast?
Great shoegaze block. It was wonderful.
For a possible future show I would love to hear Ghost Highway by Mazzy Star
It has been one of my favorites for a while.
Great song picks for The Sound, The Chameleons, Gang Of Four, Ride, Slowdive and The Cure
Great show! Happy New Year, Matt! In honor of Dylan Thomas More of ChemLab who passed away on 1/7/25, please play “Chemical Halo” by ChemLab or anything else off “Burn Out At The Hydrogen Bar”.
Thank you Matt and Dark Wave for soundtracking a lot of my move from LA to Chicago over the last few weeks. In fact, I was listening to the Christmas show live while driving I-70 through Colorado. Wanted to call out Fad Gadget’s “Arch of the Aorta” from the 12/15 show. A few months ago I splurged and got Fireside Favorites on vinyl. I blame you, of course. I have been itching to request another song from that same album: “Coitus Interrupts.” Happy New Year!
Depeche Mode – My Favourite Stranger
