Blondie’s Debbie Harry joins Arcade Fire at Coachella to sing ‘Heart of Glass’

Having performed Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” at a pair of tour stops last week, Arcade Fire added a special treat during its Sunday night headlining set at Coachella: Debbie Harry herself, who joined the band to sing the 1978 hit. The Blondie frontwoman stuck around for “Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains).”

It’s been a busy few months for David J: The bassist recorded a new version of “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” and is putting together a new album called An Eclipse of Ships. Add to that a new role as bassist for the band Stellarum, with which he’s just recorded a slow-burning cover of Blondie’s “Heart of Glass.”

Blondie, Adam Ant, The Psychedelic Furs, The Fixx and Berlin are set to perform at Los Angeles radio station 93.1 Jack FM’s big “Flashback” concert this fall at The Theatre at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. A portion of ticket proceeds from the Sept. 21 show will go to Talk About Curing Autism.

Debbie Harry denies reports she’s planning to end Blondie: ‘No plans to stop working’

Debbie Harry took to Twitter last night to shoot down reports in the U.K. press that she was planning to retire from music next year, thereby ending Blondie following the release of its next album, which is expected out this year. Not so, Harry tweeted: “No plans to stop working, don’t believe everything you read.”
