The Breeders will mark the 30th anniversary of their breakthrough second album Last Splash with a new reissue featuring unreleased music.

Dinosaur Jr will mark the 30th anniversary of the band’s major-label breakthrough Where You Been by playing the 1993 album in its entirety at 11 concerts.

The massive Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona today unveiled the lineup for its 20th anniversary event in 2022, which will feature Bauhaus, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Bikini Kill, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Pavement, Massive Attack, Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon, Einstürzende Neubauten and more.

Dinosaur Jr returns next month with its fifth post-reunion album and 12th overall, the 12-song, pandemic-delayed Sweep It Into Space, which the trio will support with a 42-date North American tour that starts in September and will wrap up next February. Full details and tour dates right here.

Dinosaur Jr will make a return to live music with a pair of limited-capacity, socially distanced outdoor concerts — one a “drive-in” show with fans in cars, the other with attendees in spaced-out “grids” — in New England next month, the band announced today. The original lineup of indie-rock icons Dinosaur Jr is back in the studio working on the band’s fifth post-reunion album, the follow-up to 2016’s Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not, according to an Instagram post this week by bassist Lou Barlow. More details right here.

We’re not entirely sure what prompted this, but Dinosaur Jr frontman J Mascis this week dropped an excellent cover of the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers classic “Don’t Do Me Like That,” which finds the guitarist eschewing the softer acoustic side he usually displays on solo material. For this week’s installment of Vintage Video, we spotlight this very early footage of a young Dinosaur Jr performing at the University of Massachusetts in 1986. The four songs featured in this 19-minute video include one off 1985’s Dinosaur and three from You’re Living All Over Me, released in 1987.

Chicago’s Riot Fest this morning unveiled the lineup for its three-day September festival, which will be headlined by Nine Inch Nails, Queens of the Stone Age and a reunited Jawbreaker. Also on the bill: New Order, Ministry, Dinosaur Jr, X, Bad Brains, Buzzcocks, GBH, Fishbone and Alice Bag.

For this week’s installment of “120 Minutes” Rewind, we present this footage of J Mascis and Murph of Dinosaur Jr being interviewed by Dave Kendall in 1991 following the release of the band’s major-label debut, Green Mind. They discuss the new album, and the stuffed-animal-starring video for lead single “The Wagon.”
