New Order on ‘Blue Monday’ — exclusive excerpt from ‘Mad World’ New Wave oral history

Next week sees the publication of “Mad World: An Oral History of New Wave Artists and Songs that Defined the 1980s,” a tour through 35 classic songs via new interviews with the artists, a list that includes Depeche Mode, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Smiths, Simple Minds and many, many more.

Last week we shared some fairly rough video of a new New Order song, and now you can get a better look/listen to the track via some pro-shot video taken at Lollapalooza Brazil. And as Bernard Sumner notes, fan reports that the track was called “Drop the Guitar” were not on point.
