Due out Oct. 12, The Fountain will be preceded by first single “Think I Need it To” on Sept. 28. Yet that tune and three others from the album — “Do You Know Who I Am,” “Proxy” and “Drivetime” — already are streaming at Bunnymen.com and the band’s MySpace.
The band — original members Ian McCulloch and Will Sergeant, plus assorted sidemen — also have begun announcing North American dates at which they will perform 1984’s classic Ocean Rain in its entirety. The Bunnymen toured that album throughout 2008 and earlier this year, but only played one U.S. show, in New York. So far, concerts have been announced in Toronto, Ontario; Oakland, Calif.; and Los Angeles (see full tour dates below). The band is unveiling dates and ticket information on its Twitter feed.
In March, the Bunnymen released a limited-edition CD (and not-so-limited digital download) of the band’s Ocean Rain performance in its hometown of Liverpool on Nov. 27, 2008.
It’s unclear how many Ocean Rain dates are planned for America, althougth the band does have U.S. and European festival dates booked, too.
