Video and setlist: Pixies open ‘Doolittle’ 20th anniversary tour last night in Dublin

The venerable Pixies opened their much-anticipated Doolittle 20th anniversary tour last night at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre — the first of three nights there — and did exactly what they promised: The band played 1989’s Doolittle in its entirely, plus the six b-sides from the album’s two singles, “Monkey Gone to Heaven” and “Here Comes Your Man,” in a show that was a little more than an hour long. Nothing more, nothing less.

The show opened with Black Francis and Co. ripping through four of those b-sides before the band slipped into Doolittle, kicking off, obviously, with “Debaser” (that’s video of it above). The Doolittle set included the first-ever live performance of “Silver,” the only song off that album the band never had played before. For the encore, the Pixies finished up with the  slowed-down “UK Surf” version of “Wave of Mutilation” and concert fave “Into the White.”

The trek continues tonight and Friday in Dublin, and plays throughout Europe this month before hitting the U.S. in November and New Zealand and Australia in March. See full tour dates here.
