Spoiler: Bernard Sumner’s Bad Lieutenant announces its Coachella festival setlist

Coachella 2010

Unless you’re living under a rock, you’re well aware that the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival is this weekend — and for fans of ’80s college rock, that means sets by Public Image Ltd., Echo & The Bunnymen, The Specials, Devo and Bad Lieutenant, featuring New Order’s Bernard Sumner and Stephen Morris. If you’re curious about the latter act — which will play only its second-ever U.S. show at Coachella, following a Friday date in San Francisco — the band’s publicist has announced Bad Lieutenant’s setlist for its performance at 8:15 p.m. Saturday. The 10-song set will feature a cross-section of Sumner’s work with Joy Division, New Order and even The Chemical Brothers, plus, of course, some Bad Lieutenant material.

I can’t say I’ve ever heard of a band release their setlist pre-gig. Wow, way to take the anticipation of it all away guys. I hope they change it up for the other handful of dates on their tour. Also, I’m bummed that it’s the usual New Order length/quantity of material.
