Shane MacGowan and The Pogues touring U.S. in October, playing Voodoo Experience

Shane MacGowan and the Pogues will tour the U.S. in October

Boozy Celtic punk act The Pogues — including once-ousted frontman Shane MacGowan and his new teeth — will embark on a 12-date tour of the U.S. this October plus play the Voodoo Experience rock festival in New Orleans on Nov. 1.

The Pogues, who have been playing sporadically since first reuniting in 2001, will hit the U.S. with nearly their original lineup; MacGowan will be joined by co-founders Peter “Spider” Stacy, Jem Finer and James Fearnley, as well as early members Andrew Ranken and Phil Chevron, plus mid-’80s additions Darryl Hunt and Terry Woods. The only key player missing is original bassist Cait O’Riordan.

The group opens its month-long trek Oct. 10 in Seattle and finishes Oct. 30 in Dallas before playing a slot at the New Orleans festival (full dates below). On the band’s MySpace page, Stacy notes the Pogues are “charting unexplored territory” with the fall tour. “Well,” he writes, “Phoenix, Denver and Kansas City, anyway.”

In other Pogues news, the band also announced that Fearnley will publish a memoir in spring 2011 entitled “Here Comes Everybody,” which “will chart the Pogues’ success in the 1980s and how the band sacked singer Shane MacGowan in 1991 because of his increasingly erratic behavior.”
