Former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr is following up his performance on Hans Zimmer’s Oscar-nominated score to the acclaimed film “Inception” with his own debut as a film composer, having scored the just-released straight-to-video Antonio Banderas crime thriller “The Big Bang.”
The film is out now on DVD and Blu-ray, and Marr today posted the first track — “The Big Bang Dig” — from the forthcoming soundtrack album. It’s not clear yet when the soundtrack will be released, but you can sample the ominous, guitar-driven track below.
It’s not the only work on Marr’s increasingly crowded plate: According to Billboard, he’s also scoring the second season of the IFC series “The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret,” plus he’s planning to record not one but two follow-ups to his 2003 solo debut Boomslang. “I just want to write more than enough material to avoid ducking back into the studio to record a follow-up album,” Marr told Billboard.
