Robyn Hitchcock to perform 1990’s ‘Eye’ in New York, San Francisco, London this fall

Robyn Hitchcock will commemorate the 21st anniversary of his 1990 solo album Eye — often seen as a sequel to 1984’s I Often Dream of Trains — by performing a “director’s cut” of the record while backed by a small neo-classical ensemble in London this fall, as well as a pair of solo-acoustic performances in New York City and San Francisco.

For the London performance, Nov. 26 at St. Leonard’s Church, Hitchcock will be joined by Jenny Adejayan on cello and Lucy Parnell and Jen Macro on vocal harmonies, according to his website. Because the album has been released and reissued featuring a variety of tracklists, Hitchcock “will attempt to present a ‘director’s cut’ of the piece.” Prior to the London performance, he’ll also play Eye solo at Slim’s in San Francisco on Nov. 17 and The Bell House in New York on Nov. 19.

Yet Eye isn’t the only album Hitchcock will play during his upcoming slate of tour dates. This weekend in Clerkenwell, England, he’ll tackle The Beatles’ classic Revolver at two gigs, and, in December, he’s slated to perform I Often Dream of Trains at the All Tomorrow’s Parties festival.
