New Order’s ‘Lost Sirens’ due this fall, North and South American dates possible in 2013

With New Order’s first U.S. tour in seven years underway comes news the band finally will release the Lost Sirens album — a collection of outtakes from 2005’s Waiting for the Sirens’ Call delayed for nearly a year by apparent legal wrangling with Peter Hook — and that the band may tour both North and South America in 2013.

Those tidbits come via Rolling Stone’s review of New Order’s opening-night show in Oakland, Calif., this past Friday, which also included an interview with Bernard Sumner and Gillian Gilbert.

No exact date is given, but Rolling Stone reports that the seven-track Lost Sirens will be released in November. The collection, first mentioned by Hook last year in an interview with Slicing Up Eyeballs, had been set for release last December in a CD/vinyl set, but was promptly delayed. One of the outtakes, “Hellbent,” emerged last year on a new compilation.

Rolling Stone also reports there’s “potential for a tour of North and South America next year.”

“The whole year, even though we’ve done a load of gigs, has been a bit of an expedition, really, to see what we can manage,” Sumner told Rolling Stone. “But I think it’s been the best year of music for us ever. It’s so enjoyable. The audiences have been fantastic.”

  1. With all the delays in releasing this project, shouldn’t this be another “Stop Me If You’ve Heard This One Before” headline?

  2. Seriously, how good can these tracks be anyway? They were left off a mediocre album at best.

After hearing sirens can someone actually say “I wish this amazing session yielded 7 more cuts?”

    • They were not leftovers, but the start of the next album before Hooky left. Some great tracks did come from those sessions , so most fans are looking forward to hearing this. If you dont want to hear it, dont buy it.

  3. The fall tour is pathetic. Only a handful of dates, and a measly 16 song setlist, if you count the Joy Division covers they are really only playing 13 – 14 New Order songs, lol.

New Order need top step up and do a 20 – 30 date North American tour, and play at least 20 songs.

  4. Finally. “Lost Sirens”.

  5. Dear NO: Come to Seattle please!

  6. Glad to see Sirens getting a release. Would have loved it if they followed Hooky’s plan and added the instrumental tracks created for the Control soundtrack. Oh well :)

  7. BOM BRASIL…
