OMD to bring ‘English Electric’ to North America with 12 concerts in April, July

Reunited synthpop heroes Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark today unveiled plans to tour North America this spring and summer, hitting five western cities in April prior to the band’s appearances at the two-weekend  Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, then returning in July for seven more concerts in the east.

The shows are in support of the release of English Electric — OMD second post-reunion album and 12th studio set overall — on April 8/9, and come around OMD’s previously announced U.K. tour, which runs April 28 through May 14, and is followed by dates in France, Belgium and Germany (see full dates below).

OMD is asking fans to sign up for a ticket pre-sale.

English Electric is OMD’s first since 2010′s History of Modern, which itself was OMD’s first new album since 1996’s Universal and its first with its classic lineup — original members Andy McCluskey, Paul Humphreys, Martin Cooper and Malcolm Holmes — since 1986’s The Pacific Age.

  1. Bugger. No luck for those of us in Arizona I see :-(

  2. Or Atlanta.

  3. I wouldn’t be surprised if they tacked on some dates either in early July/late June (Los Angeles/Phoenix/Las Vegas/Denver)

  4. Cool, coming to Seattle and I can trek down and see them in Portland too! We were missed last time around…

  5. If John Foxx opens, I don’t care where they play. I am there!
