Morrissey cancels Atlanta, postpones Atlantic City — says tour resumes ‘without question’ in Boston

Morrissey

Here we go again: Morrissey has “fallen ill” and has canceled his Wednesday night concert in Atlanta, according to the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre’s website. Moz last performed on Saturday night in Miami, and had a three-night break scheduled before Wednesday night’s now-scrubbed — it’s a cancellation, not a postponement — Atlanta gig.

(See update below)

According to Access Atlanta, this week’s cancellation is Morrissey’s fourth in Atlanta since December 2012. According to the website, “Morrissey and the touring crew have come down with a virus.”

This marks the first cancellation of Morrissey’s current tour, which opened May 7 in San Jose, Calif., and is slated to wrap up June 21 in Brooklyn, N.Y. It does, however, follow last year’s disastrous attempts to tour both North and South America, which resulted repeated reschedulings and cancellations.

Morrissey is next scheduled to perform Friday in Atlantic City, N.J. See the rest of his dates below:

UPDATE 6/5/14: Morrissey has now postponed Friday’s Atlantic City concert, moving that to June 22, and promises the tour will resume “without question” on Saturday in Boston.

  1. Still ill then…

  2. Disappointed. Again. Except that I don’t have to hear Kristeen Young. Why couldn’t she have had the virus!?!?!

  3. This continues a long tradition. I’m still bitter about The Smiths’ Atlanta cancellation in 1986.

    • you say:
      “Oh, please forgive…”
      you say:
      “Oh, live and let live…”
      but sorry doesn’t help us
and sorry will not save us
and sorry will not bring my teen years back to me (any time soon)

  4. That Joke Isn’t Funny Anymore.

  5. You say that the day
    Just never arrives
And it’s never seemed so far away.
Still I know it’s gonna happen someday

  6. Little Man, What now ?

  8. To say the least I’m
    Truly disappointed
    Truly, truly, truly, awwww

  9. Oh those healthy vegans… ;)

    • Not to get too off topic here but I have to agree with you. We’ve seen this with two families with kids who are vegan. The children just aren’t thriving. They’re small for their age, pale and always out sick.

      • “Vegan”… Why assuming the worse when they could very well just be “vampires”?

      • So you’ve seen some vegan children that are small and weak; therefore vegans can’t commit to a tour schedule? Hmmm, right.

I know some carnivores who eat too much McDonalds and are overweight, red, sweaty and probably couldn’t do a tour of their lounge room, let alone the world.

        So what is your point?

    • Christopher Fenton

      He’s vegetarian, not vegan.

    • What makes me sick is all these stupid, ignorant comments about vegans being pale, pasty and ill. Have you ever seen an ill-looking or obese meat eater? I think you probably have. And as an aside, Morrissey is vegetarian, not a vegan. And you are a twit.

  10. Hehehe. Vegan or not, I should’ve just called Morrissey out for being an asshole who cannot handle rock and roll.
Btw: I’m vegan and I’m NEVER suck.

    • Exactly, good call. His cancellations are more about him being a melodramatic bell-end, and nothing whatsoever to do with his diet!

And don’t mean to sound disrespectful…I am a HUGE Smiths fan and I do love dear old Moz. I’m sure he’d agree with my statement.

  11. Never sick as well…lol

  12. Take more time off, get 100% & hire some bodyguards to combat your “fans”

  13. Judging by the cancellation story and some of the comments here, it must be true what they say about Morrissey, Morrissey fans and vegans: they’re all sickly, humorless twats who long ago vanished up their own miserable, sanctimonious arseholes.

  14. The last of the famous international hypochondriacs.

  15. Forget about whether he’s vegan/vegetarian or not: he probably got sick because of all the a-holes who feel entitled to rush the stage and manhandle the guy and pass on viruses from not washing their hands. I mean, seriously, who does that? Some prepubescent 12 year kids who weren’t even alive when “The Queen Is Dead” was originally released? I absolutely agree with DRam’s comment above – in fact, I’d say go ahead and tack on a 15% surcharge from now on to weed out all the “fans” ruining his shows.

    • Miserable Lie

I bought TQID when it came out, saw him last year. Am I allowed to rush the stage and manhandle him ?
      :p

  16. One of the more amusing things about Mozzer being an arsehole is how the mention of this brings out the arsehole in everyone else. He’s a great one to namedrop if you ever want to start strangers fighting with each other.

  17. I am not a fan of his becuase his music is so boring.

Also, he is a liar and treats his fans like shit.
